Google review requests for dental practices

Every patient is asked for a Google review at the right moment, automatically, so your rating grows without awkward conversations at the front desk.

The problem

Happy patients rarely leave a review on their own, and asking in person at the front desk feels awkward for everyone. Automated Google review requests for a dentist solve that by asking every patient, at the right time, with a link that takes them straight to your review page.

Reviews matter when someone searches for a dentist nearby, because practices with more recent reviews tend to stand out in the map results and look more trustworthy at a glance. Without a system, asking depends on whether someone remembers on a busy afternoon, and most days nobody does. The result is that a practice full of satisfied patients can look quieter online than it really is.

How it works

How automated Google review requests for dentists work

  1. A thank-you after the visit

After a completed visit, the patient receives a short, friendly thank-you text from the practice. It is sent from the practice, signed by the practice, and only after the visit is marked complete.

  2. A direct link to your page

It includes a direct link to your practice's Google review page, so leaving a review takes seconds.

  3. One gentle reminder

If they have not left a review, one gentle reminder goes out a little later, and then the messages stop.

  4. New reviews are logged

New reviews are recorded so your team can thank people and respond to any concerns quickly. A quick reply to every review, good or bad, shows future patients that someone is listening.

What it connects to

It uses the visit records you already keep, so requests go out without anyone remembering to send them. The practice controls the wording and the timing.

  • Practice management software

Signals when a visit is completed so the request goes out at the right time.

  • SMS and email

Carries the thank-you message, the review link and the single reminder.

  • Google Business Profile

Provides the review link and lets new reviews be tracked.

Questions

When is the best time to ask?

Usually shortly after the visit, while the experience is fresh, for example later the same day. Many practices avoid asking after appointments that might have been uncomfortable. The timing can be set per appointment type. Patients who visit often, such as for orthodontic adjustments, can be asked less frequently so they are not asked every time.

Is it allowed to ask only happy patients?

Google's review policies discourage selectively asking only satisfied customers, a practice often called review gating. The safer approach is to ask every patient and to handle any unhappy feedback personally. Check Google's current policies and your own professional guidance before choosing.

How many reminders are sent?

One. The first message and a single gentle reminder are enough for most patients, and anything more starts to feel pushy. You can also turn the reminder off.

Can we track which patients left reviews?

Partly. New reviews are logged as they arrive, but Google does not always show a reviewer's full name, so matching every review to a patient record is not always possible. You will still see how many reviews arrive after requests go out.
